“The Café has provided us with
incredible support.”

Josh Candelaria, Max Wahl
& Evan Bambico,
Scholar Wine

In 2015, three Santa Clara university undergrads set out to combine an interest in wine-making with the desire to give outstanding students the same educational opportunities they’d had. And from dorm room to successful non-profit, Candelaria, Wahl and Bambico have partnered with the Café to network and make connections that have helped move the business forward.

Started as a wine club and since moving into event-service, Scholar Wine has used revenue from their wine sales to fund three student scholarships so far, and they look forward to providing more in the future. If you’re interested in learning more, you can attend one of their own upcoming sponsored events, hosted at the Capital One Café in San Francisco.

“I want to share Jamu
with my community.”

Morsinah Katimin, Jamu Earth Drink

Jamu Earth Drink is an Indonesian-inspired beverage made by brewing turmeric, tamarind, a sweetener and a variety of herbs and spices. Founder Morsinah Katimin began working with Capital One shortly after starting the company in 2010. Leveraging a Kiva loan through a partnership with Capital One, Morsinah was able to produce more flavors and capture the attention of potential investors.

By offering products through Peet’s Coffee® in the Capital One Café in San Francisco, Jamu Earth Drink gained awareness, won new customers and earned several other business opportunities. With the support and trust of Capital One, Katimin’s company increased its sales by 800%, securing shelf space in Bay Area independent grocery stores and 400 stores in Malaysia.

“A passion became a start-up
and now a small business.”

Gerald Luna, b. street waffles

b. street waffles has been catering its traditional Belgian street waffles to companies in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2011. Early on, Founder Gerald Luna approached his local Capital One Café about hosting a pop-up experience within the location, and he hasn’t looked back since. Once a month for the past five years, one-of-a-kind b. street waffles has created a stir and buzz throughout the café.

With the support of Capital One, Gerald has grown his business and now caters to some of the top technology companies in the SF Bay Area—many of whom first experienced his waffles at the Capital One Café. Building on his success, Gerald is looking forward to opening his first b. street waffles storefront later this year.
